Just Keep Swimming

Craft:
Supplies:
Paper
ruler
Scissors

With a ruler draw a straight line 2" away from the long side of the paper. Cut along the line you drew.

Fold your strip in half. Close to the end of the strip-cut halfway through as in the illustration.

Design your fish and then latch it together.

Science:
Gills: respiratory organ of fish, helps fish to breathe.
scales: bony plates protecting the skin of fish.
fins: flattened part on many aquatic vertebrates used for moving, steering, and balancing.

An animal needs six characteristics to be a fish; scales, eyes, fins, a mouth, gill slits, and backbones.

Books to read:
One Fish, Two Fish by Dr. Suess
The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister
The Goodbye Book by Todd Parr

Math:
When my kiddos were little, they started to learn using food.  You could chop up veggies to make fish or use a premade snack to learn to add. Subtracting is really fun because you get to eat the fish.

Exercise:
In the 1960s our grandparents were doing a dance called the swim.   Have a parent search this popular dance on youtube and try it.

Meditation:
Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth while your eyes are closed.  Visualize being underwater. (If you have a fear imagine a meadow).  Imagine coral, reef, and fish of varied colors. when you are finished visualizing, imagine emerging from the water and then open your eyes.
